چکیده

Abstract A newly designed smart self-healing epoxy coating system comprised of modified halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) having capping is proposed for corrosion protection steel. In the first step, HNTs were loaded with 8-hydroxyquinoline (8HQ), used as a inhibitor. Then sealed/capped using cobalt (II), aiming an efficient and controlled release The coatings developed by reinforcing into matrix. structural, thermal, mechanical, electrochemical properties capped studied various techniques. UV–Vis analysis depicted that metal-inhibitor complex was decomposed at acidic pH resulting in inhibitor HNTs. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopic (EIS) blank demonstrated low-frequency modulus 10 9 Ω.cm 2 20 days compared to (10 5 ), reflecting their excellent inhibition performance. superior these can be ascribed from Finally, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) steel substrate after revealed adsorption 8HQ on surface, confirming formation iron due This work adeptness mitigating effective because dissociation (Co-8HQ). A New Polymeric Nanocomposite Coating for Corrosion Protection of Carbon Steel in HCl Solution

In the present work, four polymeric nanocomposite PNC coatings were prepared with different concentrations of yttrium aluminum garnet nanoparticles YAG-NPs in polyvinyl butyral PVB matrix. The corrosion protection of the PNC coatings applied on the carbon steel surface was investigated in 1.0 M HCl solution by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy EIS. The YAG-NPs were synthesized by pulse ele...

Hydrophobic and superhydrophobic coatings for corrosion protection of steel

Since metals in general, and steels in particular, are vital construction materials in our modern society, the corrosion protection of said materials is of great importance, both to ensure safety and to reduce costs associated to corrosion. Previously, chromium (VI) and other harmful substances were effectively used to provide corrosion protection to steel, but since their use was heavily regul...

Corrosion Protection of Steel Using Nonanomalous Ni-Zn-P Coatings

A novel technique for obtaining nonanomalous Ni-Zn-P coatings with high Ni content ~74 wt % as compared to 15-20 wt % in the conventional plating method! has been developed. These coatings show promise as a replacement for Cd in sacrificially protecting steel. Ni-Zn-P coatings were deposited using an electroless method from a solution containing NiSO4 , complexing agent and ammonium chloride. V...

Polyurethane Coatings Reinforced by Halloysite Nanotubes

The pencil hardness of a two-component polyurethane coating was improved by adding halloysite nanotubes to the recipe at a weight fraction of less than 10%. The pencil hardness was around F for the unfilled coating and increased to around 2H upon filling. It was important to silanize the surface of the filler in order to achieve good coupling to the matrix. Sonicating the sample during drying a...
